The wharf is the icon bar in AfterStep you can store applications in it like ASMail, ASLoad, ... or just use it as an application starter. It is also possible to have more then one wharf, just make a symlink with another name to the Wharf binary and add your entries, starting with "*NameOfTheLink". With the newer versions a new feature was added, so that you can have folders in the wharf, apps in the folders and apps on top of the folders. In some cases there seem to be problems with the mouse buttons in the wharf. For example if you use ascd on top of a folder, the left button will unfold the folder but wont start the cd-player. Here it works with the middle mouse button, but I heard of people where this doesn't work. You can use pixmaps, gradients and colors for the wharf, you even can make the transparent with a transparent pixmap. The wharf is very flexible. |
